Consultation process for the closure and relocation of Rastrick High School Sixth Form

Rastrick High School, in partnership with Trinity Academy Halifax and the Local Authority, are working to develop a Post-16 College in Calderdale from September 2019. This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the school to shape and positively influence the education of the young people of Rastrick and the wider area.

This proposal is designed to provide a sustainable, outstanding Post-16 provision, spearheaded by Rastrick High School and Trinity Academy Halifax, for all 16-19 learners in our locality. It will provide a blended level 3 pathway of qualifications (both academic A Level and vocational), designed to meet the needs of all learners, whatever their preferred destinations.
The college will be situated in an extensively refurbished building in the town centre, previously occupied by the Central Library, and comes with the guarantee of significant funding. This funding will create a space that will become a vibrant learning hub, with links to local businesses and amenities.
As stated previously, the design and build programme places the opening date for the college as September 2019. In the meantime, we will continue to provide high quality Post-16 provision to ensure students make the progress that enables them to make the next step to university, employment or apprenticeships. We will also guarantee that any students enrolled in 2018, onto a two-year course, have a seamless transition to the new college.

This is an exciting, joint programme led by two schools with excellent reputations for high standards, and it will deliver the same level of provision in the new college provision.
