Rastrick students’ interview skills put to the test by Lloyds Banking Group

Our Students have been participating in mock interviews with Lloyds Banking Group to help them prepare for their futures.

Nearly 300 students in year ten took part in the interviews over two full days as part of a partnership between the school and Lloyds Banking Group which began five years ago.

Steve Evans, headteacher at Rastrick High School, commented:

“This programme was set up to promote our drive on employ-ability, develop our students’ confidence and prepare them for the next steps in their lives, be that interviews for college, apprenticeships, university or work.

“Participating in the programme means our students receive first-hand experience of professional, face- to-face interviews, where each interview is bespoke and personalised for them as individuals. Following their interview, the students receive individual feedback from the interviewer from Lloyds Banking Group.”

Michelle Adams, communications manager at Lloyds Bank, took part in the mock interviews. She said:

“The children took themselves out of their comfort zones which I really admired. They were engaging and I think I learnt as much from them as they did from me.”

Year ten student Raydwaan, said:

“I really enjoyed the interview and thought it was a great experience in how to portray myself in the actual interview conditions. The feedback at the end helped me acknowledge what I could do in future to better my answers and release the nerves for future interviews. I thought being provided with this opportunity was a great idea.”

Kaitlyn, also in year ten, added:

“The mock interviews gave me a new perspective on what interviews are actually like, and the questions that are going to be asked. I would definitely say that students should be able to have the chance to have one of these, as it will help prepare them for job interviews they would like to attend in the future.”
